Apple May Offer the 3GS iPhone for FREE

RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky believes that Apple will be keeping the iPhone 3GS in stock even after the next iPhone comes out, offering the device for free with a two-year contract and at $399 for no contract purchases. Currently, Apple is selling the 8GB model for $49 on a two-year contract and $449 without the contract.

RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky:
           Quote:
"As its entry-level iPhone strategy, Apple is expected to cut iPhone 3GS to $0 (on contract, $399 unsubsidized) in conjunction with iPhone 5 launch (we continue to expect it in September). This approach is intended to target mid-market smartphone buyers and counter Android's mid-market expansion. We expect iPhone 5 to launch at $199/$299 ($599/$699 unsubsidized), and Apple to drop iPhone 4 pricing to $99 ($499 unsubsidized).

Security of iOS and Android Compared

Symantec, one of the best antivirus companies, did some tests to see which operating system is more secure, iOS, or Android. The results were amazing, because Symantec pointed out that both mobile operating systems were more secure then any Computer OS, Even Linux!  However when both OS's were further inspected, iOs seems to be harder to infect with any traditional malware due to due to Apple’s stringent certification process. Android, is at a higher risk for these kind of attacks mostly due to how open and available Android app certifications are.  Overall, both mobile platforms offer a stone wall of protection.

Jailbreakme.com Updated, “It’s been far too long”

Jailbreakme.com has been updated today, but not with a new jailbreak. Instead, another teaser. This time Comex tells us: “It’s been far too long”. This might mean that an ipad 2 jailbreak is coming up, since he tweeted this ever since the release of the device. All we have to do is just wait, and a release will come out very soon.
The website has been updated with that message and has green text in the background which is the history of commits from Comex to github. That could mean that a release is coming soon.

Sprint CEO Vows To Do Whatever it Takes to Stop AT&T, T-Mobile Merger

Everyone has heard about AT&T buying out T-mobile USA for $39 billion. What you haven't heard yet, is that Sprint CEO, Dan Hesse, said he will do everything in his power to stop this merge from happening.  He believes that if the merge happens, it will create a duopoly in the U.S. carrier market.  Then again, he might just be trying to protect his company from becoming a distant third place player, rendering them unable to compete.

When asked what he does in the companies’ mysterious “White Room,” Hesse admitted that his current target was blocking the buyout:
“Clearly, purely, we want to win and block the merger,” said Hesse, during an interview at the company’s Overland Park, Kansas headquarters. “This one poses real risks.”
If the deal does go through, it would put Sprint in a very distant third place, with Verizon in second and AT&T taking the top spot in mobile subscribers.

Dual Screen AirPlay Gaming Demo (iPad)

This is a demo done by "engadget", which shows off the capabilities of apple's AirPlay mirroring feature coming in iOS 5. With this feature, you can mirror anything to your apple tv, including games, home screen, and just about everything else that is happening on your iPad.

ENGADGET:
"For this game (and we imagine many more to come), you use the iPad as the controller -- both while navigating through menus and in race mode -- while the game appears only on your TV (though the tablet does display some vitals, and a map of the track). There's noticeable lag between the iPad and Apple TV when using AirPlay, which may be an issue for games where timing is important, such as Rock Band, but didn't seem to set us back while playing Firemint's racing game."
